BitTorrent was written by Bram Cohen who wanted to create a program which would download files faster and better than the others.
Interface cannot be described. It is just one, small, ascetic window. The idea behind the network is far more than original: no browser, just .torrent files available on various websites. All we do is simply download the tiny .torrent file (a few kB) and run the program which, in its turn, using the main server (so called “tracker”) searches for all people who have the file. What we download is divided in small pieces, just like in many other programs. Once such a piece is downloaded to our machine, it is automatically shared with others.

However, there is one major shortcoming of the system - not counting the fact that you can’t just browse the network - which makes it have two major shortcomings… So, once the file is downloaded by everyone, no little parts are left to be shared. In other words, the file can be downloaded only as long as there is at least one other persone currently downloading it.
Luckily, BitTorrent has some advantages, too. The download normally begins immediately, it goes with full speed and there are no queues.
Talking about the content of the network is irrelevant here. Everything depends on the website we use.
In my opinion this is a great supplementary network. If we happen to just come across a torrent, it makes a lot of sense to use the great possibilities of the network but if we want to find something speciphic, it will be much easier to begin with something else. If there only was a browser…
